Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the Mount Sinai Health System are continuing their contract negotiations. If you have received care within the Mount Sinai Health System within the last few years, you may have received a letter about these negotiations directly from Mt. Sinai or Anthem. We are hopeful that these negotiations will come to an end prior to impacting patient coverage on March 1, 2026. Hotel Funds have no active role in these negotiations.
The negotiations between Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the Mount Sinai Health System have NO IMPACT on the care you receive at our Health Centers in Harlem, Midtown, Brooklyn and Queens. But members who receive external care through the Mount Sinai Health System may be impacted regarding their care at Mount Sinai.
If you are currently receiving care as a patient of a provider at the Mount Sinai Health System, please contact your Primary Care Physician to discuss whether you may need care transition to a new in-network provider, or a continuity of care certificate.
Working Members – Hospital-Only Coverage (Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Queens residents)
If you are a working member residing in Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan or Queens with hospital-only coverage through Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield:
- No change to your coverage before March 1, 2026
- Your doctor visits at Mount Sinai continue to be covered through your Health Center referral
- You may continue using Mount Sinai hospital services through March 1, 2026
If no agreement is reached by March 1, 2026:
- Mount Sinai hospital services may become out of network
- You may be responsible for uncovered hospital charges
Working Members – Anthem EPO Plans (out of area)
If you are a working member enrolled in an Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield EPO plan:
- Mount Sinai providers have been out of network since January 1, 2026
- You may continue seeing a Mount Sinai provider through March 1, 2026 only if:
- You have a Health Center referral, and
- The provider participates with Hotel Trades insurance
If no agreement is reached by March 1, 2026:
- Anthem will no longer cover Mount Sinai hospital services
- You may receive bills for both hospital and provider services
If unsure how to proceed, ask your Mount Sinai provider about transitioning to an in-network facility or a continuity of care certificate.
Retired Members with Medicare
If you are a retired member with Medicare attributed to the Health Fund, the Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield-Mt. Sinai Health System negotiations do not affect you. Mount Sinai providers will remain in-network and you may continue care with Mount Sinai as usual.
